- a great summary read
And here are the links:

this is the most useful website to visit for action

'Do
the Math - The Movie' is on YouTube. It lasts about
45minutes but is well worth watching and very inspirational.
The 'Do the Math' page
in the next pdf linked to below summarizes the calculation at its heart.
Petition to South Lakeland District
Council: DIVEST
SOUTH LAKELAND FROM FOSSIL FUELS - here's
a link to online version. <<<

The petition explains why we and SLDC must divest - and links to: '11 Reasons to Divest from the Fossil Fuel
Industry' - Global Policy Journal.
The posters
This
pdf with links, shows the first set of posters, which cover these
topics:
- Global
Divestment Day and participating groups
- Introductory quotes
1. Why we must dis-invest from fossil fuels
2. Which
fossil fuels must be left in the ground?
3. Some of the world’s
worst offenders for investing into fossil fuels are our “Big 5”
“high street banks”
- "Do the Math" - How
the figure 80% was calculated for how much of our fossil fuel reserves
must remain in the ground
The next set of posters provide
action ideas. The links are the
same as those for the leaflet above:
- Move
your money to a mutual building society or ethical bank: www.moveyourmoney.org.uk
- Watch the movie "Do the Math" -
already linked to in the leaflet/flyer section above.
- Contact your pension provider using
the
ShareAction website
The SLACCtt website also provides
a list of 'Our
Top 5 Divestment Actions'
I understand the SLACCtt fossil fuel divestment pages are soon to be
updated.
They are currently accessible from the drop-down menu under 'PROJECTS' on
the SLACCtt home-page.
2
of the worst offending fossil fuel industries that are a top priority
for divestment from:
1. COAL
"Stop bankrolling coal" Global
Justice Now
Coal
is the worst of the big fossil fuels for carbon emissions and air
pollution. Despite this our high street banks have invested billions
into coal over the last ten years. So we also handed out copies of the "Stop bankrolling coal" leaflet
provided by Global Justice Now
(formerly WDM) which summarizes the coal investments by RBS and NatWest,
Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds and Halifax and Bank of Scotland. More
information on this topic is in the GJN
resources page on climate and energy.
2. TAR SANDS

why we must divest from that dirty industry.

website with much information on the tar sands
This web-page created by
Henry Adams,
a member of SLACCtt's divestment group, of which Claire
Wickham, Phil Whiting, Rosie Naish and myself together created the
flyer and posters. The
flyer for the event, which can now function as a leaflet as its
contents are very much still current, was designed and produced by the
divest group's chair Claire Wickham, and on the day of action was the
number one means of getting the information across to as many
passers-by as possible. I have changed 'GLOBAL DIVESTMENT DAY FEBRUARY
13-14, 2015' to 'DIVEST FROM FOSSIL FUELS' so that readers don't
presume that it's now out-of-date.
Also we much thank Andy Mason chairman of Global
Justice Now South Lakes for his help too, and SLDC for allowing
us to use the Birdcage.
Many groups are working on the divest project worldwide. Major ones
include:
350.org http://350.org/ and its Fossil
Free campaign http://gofossilfree.org/
which organized the Global Day of Action
Fossil Free UK http://gofossilfree.org/uk/
